Back for its fourth edition is “Panettone Maximo”, the festival that rewards the best artisan panettone cakes in the capital and Lazio, scheduled for Sunday 4 December at the “La Serra” event space at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni.

The Salone delle Fontane in Rome is set to host the 6th edition of Panettone Maximo, the International Festival of Artisan Panettone and one of Italy’s most anticipated holiday events. Featuring a competition among 45 bakeries and pastry shops showcasing 90 handcrafted panettoni, this festival has become the go-to celebration for lovers of premium baked goods and Christmas delicacies.

A Festival of Excellence

This year’s event will spotlight not only traditional panettone but also an array of holiday treats like nougat, chocolates, truffles, hazelnuts, wines, sparkling beverages, and spirits. A prestigious panel of judges, including world-renowned pastry chefs, chocolatiers, and food critics, will select the winners of several categories, including Best Packaging, Best Digital Communication, Foreign Press Award, and the coveted Audience Choice Award.

In an exciting new addition for 2023, the festival will also crown the Best Gourmet Panettone, judged by a handpicked group of chefs and pastry experts from the fine dining world.

Culinary Shows and Tastings

The event will feature live cooking demonstrations by Italy’s top pastry chefs, many of whom hail from Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as Luca Pezzetta, one of the country’s leading pizzaioli. Visitors can sample and purchase around 200 varieties of panettone, alongside other artisanal products at the accompanying Christmas Market.

Fun for All Ages

The festival’s Christmas Village promises to delight younger visitors with elf-led games, cotton candy, and a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, complete with photo opportunities. This dedicated area allows parents to enjoy tastings and shopping while their children are entertained.

Giving Back

True to its spirit of community, Panettone Maximo incorporates a charitable element each year. For 2023, donated panettoni will benefit the children supported by Don Daniele Masciadri at the Nostra Signora di Lourdes parish in Guidonia Montecelio. UNICEF Italy will also be a special guest, spotlighting its mission to protect and uplift vulnerable children around the globe.

Supporting Italian Tradition

Organized by E20 Events Factory and Ristoragency, with support from the Lazio Region and Rome’s Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism, and Fashion, Panettone Maximo remains a testament to Italian craftsmanship, culinary heritage, and festive joy. Whether you’re a foodie, a family seeking holiday fun, or simply a lover of Italian traditions, this event promises an unforgettable celebration of the Christmas season.
