During the Milan Design Week 2025, Spazio Caradosso will showcase MATER IA, a project dedicated to the intersection of diverse languages: design, photography, video, and artificial intelligence. The exhibition features renowned artists and designers who will explore the evolution of art in an era marked by innovative pursuits and reflections. The central theme of MATER IA revolves around materiality, with a focus on the transition from tangible elements to artificial intelligence, discussing the human experience and the artistic creation process.

Architect Lorenzo Giubergia, representing Giubergia-Griglio Architetti, will present a table and a chair, highlighting the simplicity and essentiality of these everyday objects. Crafted from ancient materials such as solid wood and travertine, these pieces convey stability through their rigorous design. The table features a robust wooden top supported by travertine legs, while the chair, an intriguing balance of form, showcases two shades of the same material, drawing attention to its unique composition.

Alongside Giubergia’s furniture, the works of several artists will be on display. Per Barclay creates a provocative exploration of perception, where reality and reflection blur, resulting in an interplay of genuine and artificial landscapes. The duo Gioberto Noro and Daniele Ratti investigate light, architecture, and material relationships, emphasizing the balance between microcosm and macrocosm in their photography. Daniele Ratti’s minimalist approach presents architecture as a protagonist, where even shadows become subjects worthy of exploration.

All presented artworks reflect a common investigation into reality, perfecting visual and formal equilibrium while contemplating the nature of artifice. The omnipresent concept of space permeates the works, with each artist demonstrating mastery over light and the inherent ambiguities of reality, thus creating symbolic spaces for contemplation.

The final room of the exhibition is dedicated to multimedia artist Gianluca Iadema, showcasing his project UN_I[N]VERSO. This philosophical and artistic reflection examines how various elements across different sensory fields can converge into a single component, exploring sound, architecture, video, sculpture, performance, and lighting design. MATER IA evolves, yet the artist’s thought remains central to creation. The exhibition runs from April 7 to April 11, 2025, from 10 AM to 6 PM, with appointments available from April 14 to 17.

This exhibition is made possible through collaboration with Giorgio Persano, TorinoRecontemporary, TorinoSimondi Gallery, TorinoStudio Architetti Giubergia Griglio, and VisionQuest4rosso, Genova.

Born in 1955 in Oslo, Per Barclay currently resides and works in both Oslo and Torino. He has participated in prestigious exhibitions, including the Nordic Pavilion at the 1990 Venice Biennale and various renowned museums such as the Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain in Nice and the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. His recent projects have included large installations interrogating contemporary themes.

The artistic duo Gioberto Noro comprises Sergio Gioberto Noro (b. 1952) and Marilena Noro (b. 1961). Their work focuses on visual perception, actively challenging the conventions of perspective in modern visual culture. Recent exhibitions include works at Spazio Ersel in Torino and Galleria Peola Simondi.

Daniele Ratti, born in 1974, began pursuing photography professionally after graduating in Architecture from Politecnico di Torino. His diverse projects often engage with Italian colonial history, exploring themes of identity and memory in both exhibitions and publications.

An architect since 2010, Lorenzo Giubergia combines his passion for design with an exploration of material contamination. His studio, established with Stefano Griglio, emphasizes a holistic approach to architecture and interior design, continuously evolving to embrace innovative methodologies.

Born in 1996, Gianluca Iadema is a composer and multimedia artist whose work spans various fields, including sound, video, and installation. His educational background in classical music and contemporary composition informs his unique artistic vision, promoting a seamless experience where disparate elements converge.

MATER IA provides a thought-provoking examination of contemporary artistic practices, inviting the audience to reflect on the interplay between physical materials and digital innovations, as well as the ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity in art.
