The Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires (Malba) has announced the launch of the 2025 Writer’s Residency (REM), a program aimed at international authors interested in developing literary projects in the culturally vibrant environment of Buenos Aires. Over the course of five weeks, selected writers will have the opportunity to focus on their work while exploring the rich cultural expressions of the city.

Organized by Malba’s Literature Department, the residency is divided into two categories. The first offers a full scholarship for international writers, open to authors of any nationality who do not hold citizenship or residency in Argentina. The second category is targeted at writers from Chile, Spain, and Italy, in collaboration with cultural entities and embassies.

Applicants must meet a series of requirements defined by the program. It is essential that they have published at least three books in the genres of novels, short stories, poetry, children’s literature, or literary non-fiction. Academic publications and self-published works will not be considered. Additionally, candidates will need to submit a letter of intent and a detailed work plan outlining the project they intend to develop during the residency.

This initiative by Malba represents a unique opportunity for writers to immerse themselves in Buenos Aires’ dynamic literary scene while advancing their own creative endeavors.
