Stanislav Efimov, a renowned fashion photographer from Vladivostok, Russia, has a captivating story that intertwines with the rich tapestry of his homeland. Born in the USSR and navigating through the tumultuous 1990s, Stanislav’s passion for photography has remained a steadfast companion throughout his life.

His journey began at the tender age of eight when his parents gifted him his first camera. “I started doing photography from a very young age,” he recalls. “It was common in the USSR—children developed and practiced in creative schools. And since then, photography has been with me all my life.” This early exposure ignited a lifelong love for the art form, which he perceives as a vital means of self-expression. “At the same time, photography requires constant self-development as an artist,” he adds, highlighting the ongoing journey of growth that every photographer undertakes.

Stanislav’s educational background is as diverse as his experiences. He holds degrees in engineering and photography, both earned during the Soviet era. However, the challenges of the 1990s led him to venture into business instead of pursuing a career in photography. Yet, as the country stabilized in the 2000s, he seized the opportunity to return to his true passion—sports, travel, and photography.

Kiteboarding, one of his favorite hobbies, has taken him to breathtaking locations, including Mauritius and Madagascar. “Many places are connected with it, where I lived, trained, and, of course, photographed,” he shares. It was in Madagascar that he collaborated with renowned sports brands and met the famous photographer Dean Eadon. Together, they explored the region and released a photo album dedicated to Madagascar, further solidifying Stanislav’s place in the world of photography.

The 2010s marked a significant transformation in Stanislav’s career as he shifted his focus toward art and fashion photography. Moving to Singapore, he honed his skills in the fashion industry, embracing the challenges and excitement that come with it. “Fashion is always something very special, always on the edge,” he explains. “That’s why fashion photography is comparable to extreme for me. You have to be quite brave, creative, and have the desire to try new things.”

However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 forced him to return to Vladivostok, where he has since dedicated himself to training young photographers while continuing to pursue his artistic vision. His commitment to his craft has not gone unnoticed; in 2024, he achieved great success in the prestigious fashion nominations of the 35Awards photo contest.

As for his future aspirations, Stanislav remains ambitious. “The next goal is to be recognized internationally,” he states, reflecting his desire to elevate his work on a global stage. With his unique perspective and unwavering passion, there is no doubt that Stanislav Efimov will continue to make waves in the world of fashion photography, capturing the essence of beauty and creativity in every frame.
