Ameer Yousif El Siddig, born in 1979 in the vibrant city of Wad Madani, has evolved into a prominent figure in the Sudanese art scene. Currently residing in Khartoum, Ameer is a talented graphic designer and creative director, holding a degree in Graphic Design from the University of Sudan, which he completed with honors in 2001. His career as a freelance graphic designer complements his artistic pursuits, providing him with unique insights that enrich his creative expression.

From a young age, Ameer harbored a profound desire to be an artist, eventually transforming that ambition into a rewarding reality. His work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, with notable showcases at the Rashid Diab Arts Centre in Khartoum and the Lela Art Gallery in Ethiopia. His creativity has further blossomed through exhibitions at the French Cultural Centre and Khartoum International Community Schools (KICS).

 

Ameer is a proud member of the Sudanese Plastic Artists Union, a testament to his dedication and commitment to the artistic community. His talent has not gone unnoticed, as he received the “Creativity Under Lockdown Award” in 2020 from UNESCO and MEADOWS, highlighting the resilience and creativity artists demonstrate in challenging times.

Ameer’s art is characterized by a unique blend of semi-realism and abstraction, often drawing inspiration from Sudanese culture’s rich customs and traditions. He skillfully employs a vibrant color palette, believing in the transformative power of color to evoke emotions and provoke thought. His works resonate with themes of multiculturalism, capturing the essence of Sudan’s diverse heritage.

Embracing aesthetics, Ameer’s subjects often revolve around visually stimulating shapes, allowing him to express complex feelings and ideas. As he eloquently states, “I cannot imagine what my life would be without painting…,” highlighting the fundamental role art plays in his existence.
